In 1893, three Canadian Pacific Railway Company employees launched their own business called The Windsor Salt Company Limited. Windsor Salt has been an active ingredient in kitchens, roads, pools, and communities all across Canada ever since. The Ohio Salt Company began operations in Rittman, OH, with its first brine well in 1898, and was later acquired by Morton Salt in 1948. Now with more than 125 years of presence in the community, Morton Salt stands as one of Rittman's longest-tenured employers.

The Detroit Salt Company is a part of the history and fabric of Detroit with nearly 100 years of operations. The gigantic salt mine is located 1,200 feet beneath Detroit's surface, spreads out over 1,500 acres, and has over 100 miles of underground roads.

Îles-de-la-Madeleine, QC
Mines Seleine, Quebec's sole salt mine located on the Magdalen Islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It produces exceptionally pure sodium chloride from its shallow deposit just 30 meters underground, supplying road salt throughout Eastern Canada, the U.S. eastern seaboard, and even France. The mine was established following the 1972 discovery of seven salt domes in the region by the Société québécoise d'exploration minière, with the Grosse Île location chosen for its proximity to the surface.

Established in Utah in 1918, Morton Salt has been harvesting salt from the salty waters of The Great Salt Lake for over a century. The Grantsville, UT plant utilizes up to 7,500 acres of evaporation ponds to produce solar salt for a variety of purposes, including food-grade and deicing salt.
