Cooking Instructions

Step-By-Step Cooking Information and Guidance

Preheat Oven

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

Cook the pasta

Bring approximately 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon Morton Table Salt, then cook pasta 1–2 minutes less than package directions for al dente. Drain.

Prepare the cheese

Combine the shredded cheddar, Gruyère, and Monterey Jack in a bowl. Reserve approximately 1½ cups of the cheese mixture for topping.

Make the creamy cheese sauce

In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, combine evaporated milk, heavy cream, melted butter, ½ teaspoon Morton Table Salt, garlic powder, and paprika. Warm gently, then gradually stir in the remaining shredded cheese, a handful at a time, until melted and smooth. Do not boil.

Combine

Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until evenly coated.

Bake

Transfer the mac and cheese to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved cheese evenly over the top. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbly.

Serve

For a more golden topping, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching carefully. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
