Dietary Guidelines

The association between sodium and health continues to a topic of interest, with the United States government calling for an increased availability of affordable, nutritious food options that have lower sodium. The most recent action came in the form of the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, released on January 7, 2016.1

Daily Sodium Intake Guidelines

Adults and children less than 14 years and older Less than 2,300 mg
Individuals with hypertension and prehypertension Less than 1,500 mg
