The first column shows specific salt grades arranged in descending order of particle size and grouped into families based on crystal form and screen range.
These charts match salt grades to applications. More than one grade may be designated for a specific use; the preferred choices are denoted by an asterisk (*) with alternatives indicated by the letter "A". Often, several grades are indicated for a use due to variations in processing methods, storage/handling procedures or in climatic conditions. Check the tables at the base of each chart for notes concerning salting method and salt use parameters.
